Zum Goldenen Anker in Bad Driburg

I cannot understand some of the negative comments made here. Have been to the Goldener Anker with friends and colleagues more than a hundred times. Food, service, ambience and price-performance ratio are really good. The guest is king when he behaves like a king.

Home-style and down-to-earth cuisine. An inn with tradition and high quality dishes. The salad plates for the individual main courses are extremely tasty.

This place is delicious. Great food. Wonderful service. Highly recommended.

Delicious, authentic food and friendly service. The meat is extremely tender and the portions are very large, you will be satisfied here even if you are very hungry. With a lot of passage at the entrance it is a bit too cold in the front guest room, but that is the only point of criticism. Perhaps one could remedy this with a curtain.

Very good food, game goulash was a poem. Good portions, good value for money. Nice service. All round successful, we'll be back when we're in Freiburg again!

Very good home-style cooking, the dishes were very tasty and the service friendly. In summer it is definitely nice to sit outside. However, it would be nice if there were more vegetarian options on the menu.

The best schnitzel we've ever eaten! Absolutely juicy even without sauce, top fried potatoes, the salad super fresh and delicious! The Käsespätzle TOP !! Big portion. It's a shame that we don't come from here, it would be one of my favorite restaurants. Even so, we stayed here twice during our vacation! Speaks for itself;) Service is super friendly and attentive. We couldn't get an outside seat ... when one became free for 5 minutes, we were asked if we wanted to move. So much effort, for the guest happiness, is rarely seen in full operation!

We had a nice place in the beer garden. The friendly service provided our group with drinks and delicious food. We were completely satisfied. Greetings from the Münsterland.

Super juicy schnitzel; one of the best I've eaten (and I've tried many 😂). Super nice service. Very clear recommendation! We were in Freiburg during our Black Forest trip and were happy to be guests at the Goldener Anker a second time.

I cannot confirm the negative comments. Food came super fast and was very tasty. The waitresses were all very friendly and the boss was super nice. Me and my wife would love to come back.

We love the golden anchor! The food is down-to-earth, cooked with love from the best ingredients and is served in a friendly manner. Despite Corana regulations, the atmosphere is great. A great team with great food, what more could you want? You should definitely make a reservation.

Here you get both: friendly and fast service, the seating is extremely comfortable and I think the distance between the tables is particularly decent. You certainly don't get the feeling of having dinner there like sardines in a can; I usually didn't want to share the dessert with my sister at all. We have learned from this for the future and will each order a dessert next time. My husband and I think the prices are completely fair.

"Badisches Dreierlei" is also available ready-made in the A ** i. Meat salad not dressed in any way at all. 1 to 1 like from the discounter, extra long cut Lyoner. Put a few onions on it and you're done. "Oh, forgot the cucumber, sorry." Quark smells normal with a little parsley, fried potatoes muddy. And that for just under € 14

I also have five stars. Simply because the food is good, the staff and the boss are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Here, too, the small menu stands for quality. A good tip for everyone who likes it stylish and rustic!

Unfortunately, I cannot understand the good reviews. Service / ambience: The head waitress is absolutely unfriendly and guests' requests (it was only about the friendly request for another side dish - which was also available) were answered with a rude "no, not possible". A total of four service staff who run hectically from left to right, which makes the stay very uncomfortable. Many "empty paths" can be observed here. If you were to work more efficiently, there would certainly be more peace and quiet. Our table was across from the scullery. Here, in front of us guests, the leftover food was constantly looked at in a bucket or, alternatively, placed in the back of other guests. The atmosphere inside is very uncomfortable. Bare tables, no candles or the like, but fried potatoes on the floor. No soap or paper towels in the ladies' room. A no go in Corona times. Our neighboring tables were also absolutely unsatisfied. Once a dish was not allowed to be shared despite not being hungry, once forgotten dressing and at a table of four, two people had already eaten when the rest of the dishes arrived. Eat: You can get such a schnitzel on every corner: dry and not really seasoned. The Brägele were also below average. All in all, an absolutely disappointing visit that would have been forgiven for sure if the service would at least have been nice. Unfortunately we paid another lady at the checkout and could only express our displeasure with her. She asked us to give the feedback directly to her head waitress, you could clearly see her fear of her. Pity! The evening before, we had been to the Webers around the corner - an absolute recommendation applies here and we wish we had stopped there a second time.

Food was okay, but nothing special. But the service was very unfriendly, the waitress simply threw the menus and cutlery on the table as she walked by. We have never seen anything like it. I can't understand the very good reviews. There are much better restaurants in Freiburg.

"This is a dining restaurant." Quote service staff. I asked if a table in the beer garden would be free for an hour. It was answered in the affirmative and I was allowed to sit down. My drink came quickly; Then I was asked to order something to eat, otherwise it would be a quick beer. I just wanted to spend the time in the beer garden quietly and wait for my wife. Now I felt compelled to drink my beer quickly so that the table would be free again, although it would have been free for an hour. I was not informed in advance that ordering food is mandatory. Conclusion: you have to pay 4.10 euros for a quick beer, which should be emptied in 13 minutes. It was not my first visit and the last few times I have skipped reviews, but after this high point it was no different. I will not spend any more money here.

It can be so easy. He has what everyone wants. Schnitzel with fried potatoes. Everything in top quality. With a big delicious salad. Good selection of wine and cool delicious beer. They are friendly too. Everything is simply great. Thank you for the lovely evening. We'd love to come back.

We'll definitely remember the golden anchor for the next time in Freiburg. When we arrived it was actually already full and the remaining tables were reserved. We got a place anyway, and the next guests who came, too, the waitress tried to find a place for them. The food was really good home-style and very tasty. But the portion ... Holla the forest fairy. You have to be really hungry. I can definitely recommend it. But I really recommend to reserve in advance or to give a short call. As I said, when we came (shortly after 7pm) it was already well full and new people kept coming while we were eating. That speaks for itself. The service was also very nice and we didn't have to wait long.

You can argue about the ambience or the like. I don't want to. I was there for dinner and it was very, very good. Nice service. If Freiburg is all about doing it again, we'd love to come back

Nice corona safe restaurant. Both outside & inside. We ate fish & meat. Both with enough vegatables. Reservate for sure or go early after opening-hour! Also nice white & red wine.

Really good experience at the Golden Anchor; the food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. We came early on a Saturday night (17:30 opening time) and we're fortunate to get a table; top tip - reserve a table 👍 A special thank you must be given to the male host who was both friendly and humourous; what a welcome and we look forward to returning when we are next in Freiburg.

Delicious German food with huge portions. The cordon bleu was delicious as were some of the specials for the day. Friendly service too!

After a long time, we are finally waiting for dinner in the golden anchor. The joy of the reopening is literally written on the face of the boss. If you couldn't see the grin under the cloth mask, you could see it in his eyes. What he radiates was found on the plates, delicious Baden, prepared and served with pleasure. Fortunately, nothing has changed despite Corona. That's exactly what we expected and missed so much. Praise to the whole team !!!

Very happy to have found this restaurant. The food was very good and simply. Yummy comfort german food. If we were to come back to freiburg (which I know we will) :) I would go back to eat here. We did make a reservation and thank goodness we did. After being there only a short while. The restaurant filled up. The service was friendly. They also take card and cash. Traditional German feel. Your classic and fantastic German local restaurant. The service was great, the portions huge and the food tasty. I bellive the German word is gemütlich. Oh, yes, and they accept cards. Which, bellieve it or not is not given in Germany.

If you are looking for the real „German“ experience with traditional food, good beer and decent staff you should definitely go there.

Very large portions

The place is small and popular so make reservations. The food was excellent and the beer really good. Smiling host and warm service. Highly recommended.

The owner is really amazing, he makes this place feel like home, really funny and warm hearted. And the food is delicious (Apfelstrudel is homemade for sure!), typical german, just like the decoration! I came here randomly and I'd recommend it for sure.

Awesome food!! We went without a reservation and luckily were able to get a table inside. The owner is super friendly and helpful. They speak English, and have an English menu. The Volkers Sauerbraten was the best thing I’ve eaten the entire week we’ve been in Freiburg. Definitely worth a visit. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food.

The service was very slow. The food came 30 min after we ordered it. The quality of the food was not great either. Besides, the waitress was very rude during all the service. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Gigantic, delicious Schnitzel with a wonderful atmosphere. Filled with locals, which is always a great sign, and run by friendly staff who speak excellent English.

Authentic local restaurant. Busy, but for all the right reasons, great food and great service! Portions are huge!

Delicious food, massive servings, nice atmosphere though lots of hen and stag groups. Probably due to this we had to wait about 30-40mins for our food. Also don't order tap water, they charge a fortune for it. A salad comes out first, and they let me package up what I couldn't eat and take it with me.

Authentic, local pub/restaurant - excellent for easy lunch and dinner.
